Question about my flute

Post by Ruli »

Hello,
I found an old flute between the stuff of my late father.
The inscriptions says:
Gustaf Reinh.
Uebel
Erlbach/V
*1701*

Can anyone tell me something about the flute, is it a student model or better?
And what is it worth?

Hope to hear something from you all.

Sorry for my english, I am from the Netherlands...

I'm familiar with flutes made by Gerhard Rudolf Uebel and his uncle F. Arthur Uebel , but I've never heard of Gustaf Reinh. Uebel. It's possible (probable?) that he might be another family relative.

Herre are some photos of flutes made by G. Rudolph Uebel. Is yours similar?

I'd love to see some photos. Unfortunately, as a new member you won't be able to post them here until you have been a member a while longer. Can you upload some photos to a photo sharing site and then post the link here? Then, maybe someone here can help more.

(No apologies necessary for your English. It's fine and better than some for whom English is their first language.)

It's hard to tell, but this flute was probably made in the 70's Here is a translation from a German website: Closest match I've found so far..
Gustav Reinhold evils (1918-1981)

Took over 1959 Founded in 1910 Erlbach woodwind workshop of his father Gustav Reinhold evil sen. ( 1873-1960 ) . Whose ancestors had also been active in woodwind instruments . GR Uebel learned the flute from his father in 1947 and made the master craftsman. (Formerly : PGH ) 1972 the workshop was operating part of the VEB " Sinfonia " , it was the amalgamation of the company with cancer . The joint company was rated as " flute Erlbach " part of the VEB " B & S " ( " Brass and signal instruments " ), the brand " Gust. Reinh . Evils " is still used . The evil flutes were in the 70s and 80s in West Germany popular student flutes. The built in Saxon tradition concert flutes ( silver and silver head) were produced inexpensively and carefully , but had no professional features . A striking distinguishing feature of the concert flute was the long connector at the base piece , in which the Dis - tone hole led by the connector. This design dates back to the 1900 -built flutes of French flute maker Djalma Julliot . Apart from metal concert flute concert flutes were made of wood and metal piccolos .
