TWG Flutes - Anybody tried these?

Post by Snowy »

Hi all! I'm a newbie here but I thought I'd make an account to ask this question since I can't seem to find any good info online. I'm looking for a decent student instrument and the music shop I went to recommended trying Yamaha, Pearl and a brand called TWG, saying they were all very good options.

I like to do my research and there's plenty of info about Yamaha and Pearl out there - but very little about this TWG brand. I know they're designed by 'The Woodwind Group' in Sydney and manufactured in Taiwan but there is very little on their website. I've been told that they have 'excellent intonation' and a 'clear sound', but it was the music shop that told me that.

I want to know if there are any players out there who have tried TWG, and what their thoughts are. Are they good mechanically? Built well? The music shop didn't have any so I wasn't able to take a look myself - not that I really know what to look for!

Thanks in advance!

If you want a third option, one of the most popular (especially for the budget minded), is the Jupiter 500 series. The closed hole, c foot, silver plated model retails at most flute specialty shops for around $400 USD. Furthermore their manufacturers warranty is through high school (about 7 years). I personally haven't ever heard of that third company you mentioned.
