I'm new, help!!!

Hey ya'll! I'm new to this whole flute thing and was
wondering if anyone could give me some advise. I'm having a lot of trouble
getting the D2 to sound right. I can get all the other notes just fine, cept for
C and D2, and it's really discouraging. Please help if you can. Thanks!

them as well or only those?

I'm not having trouble with any other notes except
these and it's a major pain!

Other than to tell you to practice, I will leave more
specific answers to others here. As to low C many beginners find trouble with
getting low notes to sound right. As to why you play the notes above and below
D2 well but not that note, others will have to answer that. Do you have a
fingering chart?

I'm using the fingering chart on this site and
finding it very helpful. My dad said it may be because with C and D2 you have to
cover more holes therefor you have to blow harder and when I blow harder it
sounds very breathy.

I hate to disagree with Dad, so I will let others

guessing, he has no clue about flutes.

well I think she disagrees with your dad because C
and D2 dont require many holes to be covered, I can probably help you more but I
have to know are you on a student model flute or a professional flute (If it is
professional is it open or closed)

I'm not sure what kind it is. It's closed on the
headjoint and, of course, open on the footjoint. Any help?

no are their holes on top of the keys is what I meant

Oh ok. Then no, there aren't holes on the top of the
keys.

good then you should only be pressing 2 keys for
C(left index finger and right pinkie) and 4 keys for D2(left middle and ring
fingers left thumb and right pinkie) also you shouldnt be blowing harder but
centering your air and blowing faster may help

It's closed on the headjoint and, of course, open on

i had that problem last year.. it was because a few
screws loosened and i didn't realize it, after i screwed it it, my sound came
out perfectly. check if all your flute's screws are tightened properly.

Thanks for your help! Ok, now I'm using the
fingering chart on this website and it says for C you press pretty much every
key and for C2 you only press two. Is that right? The only reason I'm asking is
because when I play C it sounds higher than C2.
