I am the "big sister" for a little girl who is 12. She started playing in band this year. She currently rents a flute from her school for 45 a month. Her family absolutely cannot afford this. What is worse is that the flute leaks, squeaks and is bent. It's pretty unacceptable to me that she's playing a POS instrument and that her parents are having to spend money that could better be used for necessities.

I decided to see if I could find her a used flute that is reasonably price. I'm a broke college student who can't afford too much, either. I checked the local music store, pawn shops, ebay and Amazon. I bought a Getzen Delux made in Elkhorn, WI.

Long story short....does anyone have any experience with a Getzen flute, or even heard of them????? I bought it online (I know, I know) and it hasn't arrived yet. I knew that Getzen brass was of good quality so I didn't really think to search around for flute quality. I'm not even sure if Getzen still makes flutes. I sent them an email but haven't gotten a reply yet.
