Please Help Me to Identify this Flute

Post by bhowdy »

I need to know what kind of flute this is, Any help would be greatly appreciated. It is made of metal, there are some holes that are larger than others, it is not a toy, it has a serial # and has some definite age to it as well. I have looked everywhere online, with no success. Thank You. :D i'm sorry but i have no idea how to attach a pic. of the flute i read the tutorial, and i'm still stumped :(

I briefly saw the link you were attempting to post. Is this what you were trying to show?

If so, it really is little more than a toy. It is not a serious instrument. These were produced around the early 20th century. They were sold to people who wanted to play a flute-like instrument but were unwilling to spend the time or effort on learning to play a real flute. The mouthpiece made it easier for a novice to get a flute like sound without having to learn a real flute embouchure.

It would mostly be of interest to antique collectors and not musicians. They are not worth much as an instrument and their only value is really as an oddity or something you might see screwed to the wall of a bar or restaurant...
