I''m very glad I came across this site! I''m
starting to research to find out what kind of flute has the sound I''m looking
for. I''m a beginner on the flute. I''ve been playing piano/guitar for over
20 years and recently have gotten the flute ''bug''. I saw a Celtic
music/dance show at Busch Gardens Virginia and picked up a little Irish tin
whistle there. I couldn''t put it down! I''ve picked up a couple of other
small flutes since then and am looking for something specific now.. For starters
I''m pretty sure I''m looking for a wood flute. If anyone is familiar with
the music from Lord of the Rings - The Fellowship of the Ring, I''d like to
know what kind of flute plays the ''flute melody'' from the movie. Its the
melody that plays when the Hobbits and the Shire are first onscreen. On the
soundtrack a good example is the beginning and end of the second track, called
Concerning Hobbits. It sounds kind of like a Native American wood flute, but I
know there are different kinds of wood flutes and I''m not sure what the
differences are in them. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks, Michael
