This past week in band I got to play the first flute part in a song. It sounded awesome and I was really happy that I got to play it. The other flute in my grade was mad at me because she had to play the second flute part. In band I'm supposed to be second chair (chairs aren't very official in my band) but the girl who had to play the second flute part keeps sitting there! She's mad at me because I sat in the second flute chair and she had to sit in the third. To answer a question that I'm sure is going through your minds, yes I play better than she does.
Now she's mad and I don't know what to do. Do I let her play the first flute part and be second chair so I can keep the peace or just stay where I am and continue to play first flute parts? I don't really like for people to be mad at me. She hasn't said she was mad, but I can tell. What do I do?
Don't give in to her anger. I agree with Fluteguy18: It's her problem not yours. If she wants to play first flute, she has to earn it the same as you did.

I agree with the above. It is her problem, not yours. Later on no one is going to care that you were nice. They will only see that you were second chair and not first.
