The reason I asked the question about the ARIA flute was: my 10 yr old daughter wants to join band and play the flute. A friend of mine came across one at a garage sale, she gave the ladies number. I called her and she explained, she bought it brand new off e bay and she only used it a few times. The brand name was ARIA. I researched it on line as well and found (besides for aria flute glasses) one web sight (ARIAmusic.net) that sold this flute. No music stores had this listed on their web sights. So I called a few music stores and was told he heard that ebay was selling brand new flutes with an off brand name and they were junk. So since I have no clue about flutes, im glad I asked before I bought. So just a warning out there for anyone wanting to buy this brand of flute.

Just because a flute is a no name flute does not always mean it is a piece of junk. I have been to NAMM shows, and know this first hand. I have owned, and tried many no name flutes that were decent. The problem is good no-name flutes are hit and miss. This makes it very difficult for someone that does not know about flutes.

Your right, and since I dont know a thing about them I would rather be safe then sorry. But hey, do you know of any places to get a good beginners flute for less? I am here in Michigan.

I don't personally know any music stores in Michigan, but you might contact the one of the Michigan flute associations. I'm sure they could put you in contact with reputable local dealers. They may also know of some good used instruments for sale that would be suitable for a beginner.

Here's a link to the contact list on the Southeast Michigan Flute Association web site:

And this is the West Michigan Flute Association:

Here are 4 places to try.

http://www.fluteworld.com (Farmington Hills, MI)
http://www.little-piper.com (Bloomfield MI)
http://www.wwbw.com (SouthBend IN.)
http://www.flutespecialists.com (Detriot MI)

Flute world is highly recommended, but www.wwbw.com will probably have the lowest priced flutes.

Check them out
