Too much resistance when I try high notes

Post by dogster »

What am I doing wrong . When I play the high notes it seems there is way too much resistance on the flute . so unless I play real hard I can't get the notes to ring. It seems like my technique is ok . Sometimes its easy and other times its very difficult

I figured it out

I finally figured it out as I was to close to the hole of the flute and was covering it too much.

I have only been playing for 5 months so its a real learning experience

The main thing you will find with high notes in loosening the embrochure.
Most new players, and some old ones, tighten up a little to much on high notes. The key is the proper aim of the air stream, not tightness. Playing a piccolo is a prime example of this.

Yes I noticed that relaxing is the key period . So I am becoming more comfortable as the days go by .
