Is this a required thing? I didn't hear about this until recently but I was wondering if it's necessary?
I play:
Piano
Organ
Clarinet
Flute
Recorder
Penny Whistle
Harmonica
Jaw Harp
Cello
Violin
Guitar
Mandolin
Ukulele

No. Never. Ever. Ever Never.

The only thing you will EVER need is the residue left after wiping the light oil off of whatever part it is.

My Yamaha 561 model has never seen any maintenance from me for the past 8 years and it plays perfectly. The only people who should be concerned with any of this are the professionals who do this for a living. I won't let myself work on my flute.
