Has anyone out there played this piece? And if so, what tempo did you take it? I am having a really hard time nailing this piece down at the indicated tempo of 100. The part at D is really killing me. I just can't play it that fast and it doesn't sound like it fits the rest of the piece. Any help with this would be really appreciated. Thanx!

Don't be too concerned with what the tempo marking is. If you can't play it perfectly (note and rhythm wise) at that tempo, you need to take it down. It will sound faster done cleanly at 80 BPM than done dirtily at 100. I am not familiar with that particular piece, but this holds true for everything. If you want to get it up to speed, start slow (with a metronome at whatever tempo you can do it cleanly and comfortably), and gradually (maybe a couple of clicks a day) work it up from there.
okay, thanx for the input but I've already done all that (working it up slowly first, doing little different "fun" exercises with it etc., etc.). I guess I need to be more specific. My boss wants to take it at 100 because that is the metronomical marking for this piece (thats what the publishers put on it). I just want to make sure that 100 is the right tempo and, if so, how the flute part at d and e fits into the piece. It just doesn't seem to make sense at that tempo. If any flute player has played this Woodwind Quintet piece, I would appreciate it if you would get back to me. I have looked for recordings of this piece and can't find any. Thanx!
