Sorry for the espanol...Apparently, I'm suffering from a bad tone once again...
I don't understand, after not playing the flute for just 4-5 days, I've lost so much. I can't even make one clear, strong note when I first pick up the flute. I have to go through many tone exercises to restore /some/ things but not all. And all I know is that it is /I/ who is doing this not my flute which just got repaired by a technician...Does it take a long time to restore everything?
This is strange because I expected my tone to diminish by a bit but it became 10x worse than I had expected...

Since the flute has changed, and it's been a few days since you've practiced, this isn't unusual. With the flute leaking like it was before, you were probably used to making some compensations that won't be necessary now, and you'll have to wean yourself away from those. Every player will be a little different, so how long it takes you to restore your tone, and what you'll have to do will differ from everyone else, but with daily, focused work, it should get back to where you'd like it pretty soon. Keep working, and it will all come back!

yeah, it will get better, I promise. I had my flute repaired just before my music major auditions [ about 1 month before], and one of the problems was that I needed a new headjoint cork. I was appalled by the way the flute played for about 2 weeks, but then it got a lot better [ more like... I got rid of the compensating habits]. So, dont worry. things will get better.
