Di Zhao 700 Vs Powell Sonare 601

Post by hannahector »

I was looking for flutes to purchase and I want a Di Zhao 700 or a Powell Sonare 601. I've tried both flutes out, and the Di Zhao has better articulation, but the Powell Sonare has better high notes. I need a flute that can last for 5 - 6 years, so it has to be a good quality instrument. Which one should I buy?

I played on both when I was looking for flutes for one of my students and I personally hated the Powell Sonare, to me it wasn't as light as I wanted and I have heard they aren't the world's most durable flutes (Only speaking of the student model line). I personally would go with the Di Zhao because I liked the response I got out of the 700. Every flutist is different but that's my two cents.
