Easy rep reccomendation?

Post by Roaringsheep »

Hi everyone!

I stumbled upon this forum while I was on the search for relatively easy but not beginner level piece or two that I could learn in maybe an hour or two. I'm a college student, and one of the professors who accompanied me before contacted me today and asked me to play for her church this coming Sunday... which is in 4 days >:D. This is not the first time I'm doing this for her and all of them were on this kind of short notice, so I inevitably exhausted my never-long-in-the-first-place rep list of easy pieces that I can whip out for this kind of gig.
Would anyone mind pointing me to the right direction on my search? My prof says "One meditative piece would be good and we could end with something upbeat or fun" but like I said, I have no piece coming to my mind that's not overly crazy/complicated (read "Church approved") that fits this category.
As of my level of playing, I'm not terribly good but not horrible at it either. I recently learned Muczynski flute sonata, Martinu flute sonata no.1, and Ibert flute concerto mvt 3. The book of french pieces are too hard for me to learn in a couple of days, but I could probably learn a Telemann Fantasie less than a week or so if I tried hard enough.
Thank you in advance!

The best place online I've found for pieces to play is on Jennifer Cluffs page:

http://www.jennifercluff.com/faverep.htm
It's ordered on genre, and also has a difficulty rating.

It might also be worth take a look at:
http://www.flutetunes.com/

as they have lots of varied pieces.

Best luck, and let us know what you end up playing.
