Just watched BBC young musicians woodwind , and felt that because it was a competition playing fast and furious was de rigeur .A 14 year old girl played recorders and was not accompanied by the clunk of the pianoforte , and brought a whole different dynamic to the proceedings .One of the presenters said she would pay money to see her.She had a fresh varied programme and whilst having the chops necessary ,it was not the prime consideration.Do we lose sight of the wood for the trees?
