The 21st Annual Hampton Roads Flute Faire will be held March 21 & 22, 2014.
This year’s two day event features the blazing young flutists of Flutronix, Nathalie Joachim and Allison Loggins-Hull. Friday March 21st at 7:30 they will perform a concert at the Historic Attucks Theater in Norfolk, Virginia. Joined by drummer Joe Blaxx, the group will perform original fan favorites and arrangements of classic songs. This will be a unique performance of flute music like you’ve never heard before.
Saturday March 22 is our all day event at the NEW Governor’s School for the Arts in Downtown Norfolk, VA. Flutronix will present an afternoon of their signature fresh and innovative compositions for flute and electronics with influences including Steve Reich, French impressionism, jazz and more. They will also lead the College and High School master classes and give a class entitled Pop Flute. Bring your flute to join our warm-up class with Debra Cross and Erich Graf and our flute choir reading session. There will be a class on Life in the Military with Sarah Howard-Carter and James Miller. Always a favorite are our flute choir performances and Advisory Board recital featuring flutists from all over Hampton Roads. Take part in the flute competition for Elementary, Middle School, High School, College and Adult Amateur. Prizes awarded in each division. The Top three winners in Elementary through College perform in master classes throughout the day. The competition for Elementary, Middle School and High School will be held on March 17. This year’s vendors include JL Smith and Flutist's Faire.
