Artley The Wilkens Model

Post by maxsax »

Hi, I'm curious if anyone knows the approximate value of an older Artley The Wilkins Model, closed hole, in-line g, c foot, serial #140453? I inherited the flute and don't play it as I'm not comfortable with in-line g. I am interested in upgrading from an Artley 18-0 closed hole flute to something along the lines of a Muramatsu EX closed hole, offset g and would like to sell or trade the Wilkens. I am primarily a saxophonist and double on flute. However, I have not a clue as to the approximate value. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Ultimately, it's worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it. Most of the Wilkins flutes that I have seen advertised were asking between $500 and $1000 for open holes and B foot. Of course some asked more and some less. Actual selling prices can be different than asking price. Condition and how recently its been serviced all affect the value. Closed holes and C foot generally are not as desirable to most buyers, so that would likely reduce what someone is willing to pay for it.

If you want to see the basis for my answer, see Http://usedflutes.com.
Here's a search there for Wilkins:
