making flute: drilling through branch

Post by Whimzy »

Hallo all,

I would love to make flutes and have been searching long time for an answer to this question.
How do i drill through a branch for making a flute?? for example: +-70 cm long and a 16mm inner diameter
What kind of drill do i have to use ? I cant find one that is long enough...
So if there are flutemakers here.. what kind of drill do you use and where can i find one? Or what kind of method is used for this?

It would be great if someone can help me on this!
thank you

I think you can get the info you need at the "musical_instrument_technician" yahoo group.

Give it a try.

Another Yahoo group that would be likely to provide you with an answer is called Flutemakers. That one is oriented toward people who build or want to build their own flute. Wood flutes and the tools to make them are discussed more frequently there than in other groups.
