Vibrato on tone exercises?

Vibrato on tone exercises?

Would it be more beneficial to use vibrato or straight tone during tone exercises?

My teacher has us use both, going back and forth.

My teacher suggested doing long tones and doing vibrato on the last note of each part of the exercises.
