Getting back into playing

Post by Morne »

Hi all...

I'm new to the forum. Great to be here with fellow flautists (flutists)...

I'm getting back into playing after a while...I used to play quite seriously in high school (took music as a subject and flute was my instrument)...
On and off over the years, I've played but now I want to get really serious again.

I'm having some trouble with the high register. My low and middle are ok.. and getting better, but the high is all over the place. Notes "break" when I reach them.

Could it be that my embouchure needs to be changed or just that the muscles are weak and need some strength exercises?
Any suggestions what exercises I should do? (for all registers in fact).

Thanks a mil.
Morné

Thanks Bo...
I'll have a look for that book here in Seoul.
My teacher has me playing Moyse and Taffanel as well. Seems to be helping...

Cheers
