Two issues

Post by Bo »

I am pretty sure these two topics have already been discussed, but I had a computer crash and lost some files + I cannot find them with the search function either...

1) Are there any good exercises/articles on how to play slurred octaves (from one note to the same note one octave higher) well?

2) What do tiny circles over certain notes symbolize? (Harmonics?)

Sorry to bring up these topics again :oops: , and thanks for your help! :)

Do not boot the computer that lost data!

Using ANOTHER computer, get these two:
TestDisk (Grenier) utility (free);
File Scavenger (paid).

Make a bootable USB stick and check the hard drive of the crashed computer whether anything can be restored.

Follow these instructions: http://www.quetek.com/datarecoverymanual.htm

1. I'm not sure if I have an exercise. Tomorrow when I practice I will look to see if there is anything in my books.

2. The tiny circles symbolize overblowing. That is where you finger the lower note and you speed up the air stream to cause it to jump to the next octave.

Bo.
Trevor Wye's book on Tone has a section called flexibility. You might want to take a look at those exercises. Other than that I haven't really found anything specific.

Thanks! I don't have the book, but I will see if I can get hold of it. :)
