I wanted to get some opinions on if my flute is repairable. (I **am** in the process of finding a qualified repair person for my flute so no worries on that point.
) This is a Haynes from the early 80's w/ soldered tone holes that has been stored away for the past 8-10 years in its original case & moved several states. Upon opening the case, I found these scratches. Upon even closer examination, I noticed that the tone hole is actually scratched & uneven as well. The separator between the foot joint and the body had become loose at some point over the years and the screw/very tip the E flat roller has been rubbing up against the side of the body.
I'm not worried about physical appearance - I just want to make sure that my flute is still playable. I can indeed play it still and it doesnt seem to have any leaks on that key from the sound of it. However, I put a flashlight down the barrel and can see the smallest pin prick of light come through the tone hole where the scratch is there - so the edge is definitely uneven. I can also run my finger across the top of it and feel the unevenness.
Can scratched/damaged tone holes like this be repaired? They're not rolled tone holes by the way, they're straight. I've googled and googled and haven't seen any pictures of similar damage. I'd like to get an understanding now from others if they've dealt with similar repairs.
