Thanks for the advice. I have been playing the flute since
late December 2009. I have not been practicing holding long
notes at all so I will begin that. I do not have a teacher at
all because I simply can't find one that is VERY close to my house.

Thanks again,
Melissa :P

Thanks Phineas, Ummmm ....I liked the flutes and LOVED the price - but I noticed they were used. Is is worth it buying a used flute - it has already been used for some time - would it wear down faster than buying a new flute? It would be a waste of money buying a used flute for $2-400 to just buying...

Hey,

I am currently working on Reverie by Claude Debussy
and Piece en forme de Habanera by M. Ravel. I LOVE
de Habanera, but I am just beginning to learn Reverie.
I began yesterday - so far it sounds alful - but the piece is
soooo beautiful!!!

Hey , Good luck on practicing your flute zummerzet_lou!!! I need a book on tone exercises - because while I can play a song correctly with the correct figurings I have complete trouble holding my embouchure for high notes, so the notes don't sound straight. Could this be because I have braces? Any w...

So...I begin to play "Beautiful Dreamer". I am floating on the melody enjoying each beautiful note when a huge "GASP" slices through my dream. No matter how hard I gasp for air, I can't play more than half the line!!! What can I do with this problem? It ruins all the long and soft songs like " oh da...

I'll clean them today. How do you clean your head joint with soap and water? Do you dampen a cloth with so...

Headjoint Smell

Hey everyone,

Ever since my family's recent move ( about one week ago),
my flute's headjoint has this terrible smell. Could this be because
of heat? My new room is quite humid. Any way to prevent this smell
at all?

Actually, I don't have that much money to buy a flute yet, and due to my family's recent move, I can't buy a 3-500 dollar flute yet - but if I save my...
