You might want to try taking a few pauses in your playing. Also maybe try and do something different with the long notes withe...

hold on to the A slightlly longer than the rest of the notes and just kind of glide up. I usually think of a bird taking flight.

the length of the recital is unlimited. Obviously I'm not gonna go too long because has much as I love the flute, I think that most people, unless they are also flute lovers, will get bored after awhile of only flute on piano.

I think the best thing to do is to play it all the way through without stopping. Even if that means "fudging" through stuff. This will give you a feel as to specific sections that you need to work on. I like to put some of those mini colorful sticky notes around the hard sections. This forces my eye...

I am a senior in high school that is going to college next year as a music education major. I currently have a geminheart 3SH and am looking for a more professional flute. I am looking for something that has a good sound in all registers and that produces a darker, fuller sound. I am making a list, ...

Jazz Flute Pieces

I was wondering if anyone knows of any good solo Jazz Flute pieces with Piano accomp. I am looking for something fun that will show off my technique for my Senior Recital and I am trying to play unique songs and would like a really cool jazz piece rather than the standard classical ones.

The most important aspects of a good audition

What are some of the most important aspects of a good audition, assuming that the audition isn't perfect. Is it more important to have all the notes right, musicality, ryhthm. I knwo it is important to have all of these things down, but if you were examining an auditioner, what would be some of the ...

Spitty Mouth

I know this might be a little gross but I am looking for suggestions on how to deal with spit build up when you are playing the flute. It seems lately that my biggest problem occurs after I have been slurring for a while and then have to go into like double tounging or even single and it doesn't com...

Its possible

I recently and made the New YorK All-State band. You just have to make sure you are well prepared for the audition. Don't procrastinate. Give your self a mental prep before the audition and just go in and have fun. ODn;t think about the music so much but think about what it is saying. Here we have t...
