I would check that the student is holding it correctly. The thumb shouldn't be near anything that would possibly cut him, unless there is something wrong with his flute. Make sure it is straight up and down on the B natural key. Also make sure that that there isn't any tension in the students finger...

Music Every Flute Player SHould Have
So I am going to college in the fall as a flute player and music ed major and I am looking to enhance my musical library before I go off to school and I am looking for suggestions of what people feel are some of the best and most important pieces for a good flute player to have.
