Re: Yay!

Congratulations Adam08. Even though I am adult flute player, I know how exciting chair placements can be. It sounds like you had a goal and worked hard to reach it so I am sure if you keep working hard that you will reach your goal for next year too :)

Re: WhErE iZ eVeRyOnE fRoM!?

Re: Sir James Live at Lincoln Center

<<someone please warn me when he's playing on TV before he does, or else I'll miss it. (he plays on TV??)>> Hi, I don't think he preforms live on TV often, at least not on channels that we are able to get here. I learned of this recent broadcast on his website because I check it frequently to see if...

Sir James Live at Lincoln Center

Did anyone else get to watch Sir James and his wife perform last night on PBS ? My daughter and I watched it and it was truly an amazing experience to actually see him perform live. We taped it so that we can watch it again. We are always hoping that he will visit here on tour so that we will be abl...

Re: New Flute Convert

I recommend just starting with the headjoint. Just play with it a bit adjusting how much of the embochure hole you are covering with your top lip. Also check out the website below. This woman has some great tips when it comes to flute playing. http://www3.telus.net/Garry_McKevitt/tone2.htm Good luck...

Re: This Place is So Dead

I still read the board everyday but my computer just doesn't seem to like this format  I have tons of trouble posting. Either it won't post to the subject I want to post to or it continually asks me to log in again and again. I have checked my cookies and security level and it should work and I...

Re: mean band director!!!

Now, do you agree that the person with the higher level of ability should play the more difficult instrument? grrr..... :x Yeah, one would think that it should work that way. Did you ask the band director why he chose a person seated behind you ? My daughter has 3 band directors that she is in clas...

Re: Drelinger Headjoint

<<How did you select the headjoint? Did you go to New York to the Drelinger location? Did you have your daughter test different headjoints?>> We were not shopping for a headjoint, my daughter had just gotten a new flute that she was happy with. Her teacher was selling her Drelinger and my daughter t...

Re: Drelinger Headjoint

Hi,
My daughter plays on Drelinger Max headjoint. Previously she played on the Yamaha CY headjoint. The Drelinger really opened up her sound and created a much warmer sound. It took some adjusting to not having to use as much air as she previously used...it is much easier blowing.

Re: Do any of you own a "Symphony Flute"??

I have never heard of that brand so I figured a search on Ebay would turn something up and it did. My guess is they rank right up there with those flutes sold at local department stores. I think your advice to take it to the flute repair guy was good advice. Kim I have a student whose Mom called me ...

Posting/Log In issue

I am having a really hard time posting for some reason. Each time I try to reply to a post....I am taken to a new log in screen even though I am already logged in. It then takes me to a blank post page rather than to a page that I need to reply to a specific post. So the message subject box is blank...

LOL I noticed the Alabanian thing too. I changed it to English but each time I have come back it says Albanian ag...
