All-City Band Concert
For people that play at school do you have All-City band concerts? And even for people out of school, it''s possible your town/city has one and it might be interesting to check out. My town has one coming up soon and I''m really excited. It''s better the older you get because at the concert the two ...

What other instruments do you play?
Me: sax: played previously for two years, can still play it enough to substitute for somebody's part clari: own one and occasionally play when I need a practicing break from the flute, could probably substitute for somebody as long as the music doesn't prove TOO difficult keyboard & piano: can pick ...

Poll- What kind of flute do you have?
I have a Geimeinhardt (sp?) 2sp.
It's closed hole, C foot and silver plated. I have another flute, but I don't
play it often. It's used as a back up when my usual flute is broken and getting
fixed.

Breath Marks
Some people follow them religiously, others feel they''re a waste of time. . .what do you think? I don''t always wait to breath when I''m supposed to [:knockout:] but I try not to ignore them completely though I do wonder, if you can squeeze in a tiny breath so fast the music isn''t changed (especia...

Cut Time
[quote] ---------------- On 2/4/2004 2:33:56 AM 2/2 means there are 2 lots of half notes per measure. So really it's like playing a slower version of 4/4 time. In 4/4 time it goes: STRONG beat, weak beat, NOTASSTRONG beat, weak beat. In 2/2 time it goes: STRONG beat, weak beat, STRONG beat, weak bea...

Blow hard Blow fast - HELP!
Here is the difference: Blow as hard as you can. . .did your cheeks puff out? I bet they did. Blowing hard means your blowing uncontroled air out. With any wind instrument your goal is not to just blow random air but to CONTROLED air. Blowing fast air means keeping your embousure (sp?) and mouth for...

How do you like orchestra by the way? Have
you played in band as well? How do you compare the too? In high school we are
going to be allowed to choose which we would prefer to play in (I think, I'm
not sure though)and I need to know one against the other (I already play in a
band)

Cb is the same as B and B# is the same as C. The
notes are rarely written that way. The other set of notes that are some times
like that are: E#=F Fb=E

Somethings you should not do to clean your flute?
Also, if you used one of those fluffy plume things to clean your flute, stop. Or at least don't use it solely (use a cloth too). The fluffy things fall off get in stuck in odd and interfering places on your flute. Yes the person that sold you your flute may say it's a good idea, but my band director...

Somethings you should not do to clean your flute?
Well there are many thing you should not do when cleaning you flute for example: throwing it against a wall, sucking on it, hammering it. . . But more specifically (lol): -You should not run water on or through any part of you flute, however, if you push the cork out through the headjoint you can ru...
