What kind of flute do you play ?

I play a student Gemeinhardt
(spelling?). Closed hole, C foot. Nothing special but it serves me well and I
sound pretty good on it. And really when you think of it doesn't the sound and
music you produce on your flute just as important as the brand and type of flute
it is?

Just passing on a idea.....

As for the plastic compartment thing...many of my friends have them and use them (not for band) and they work great! I personally don't use one because, I know this sounds stupid but I prefer the old fashion way of carrying folders and such. For my school band stuff (books, music, worksheets) I use ...

harder to be 1st chair?

Since there usually more flutes (clarinets and trumpets, trombone) than any other instrument in the band is it harder to get first chair playing the flute? I mean how many tuba players are there? Like 1-4? Whoa really hard to be the best there [:((] but like for the flute since there are so many doe...

How many flutes in your band ?

[quote] ---------------- On 9/14/2003 10:57:50 AM It seems that band/section sizes really can vary on school size and from grade to grade. How many flutes are in your band ? How many band members in the entire band ? My daughters 7th grade band has 13 flutes and the 7th grade band has roughly 80 som...

Practice Time Poll

Sorry but I have to say this. I think it's really
cool that you and your daughter are learning the flute and playing the flute
together. I think it's really neat that you can play duets and songs together.
Sorry but I just think that it's really wonderful.

right choice

I''ve been playing the flute for roughly 1 1/2 years. I''ve had my first flute for that long and just recently my mother has purchased another. The (new) flute is a used Gemeinhardt (spelling?). It is silver plated (as far as I know), closed hole, C foot, but is of higher quality than my first flute...

All I can say is feel your flute out. Roll in, Roll out and see how it feels and sounds (though I do think this affects the tuning I'm not sure) Adjust how you are inserting the headjoint. Do you play another woodwind instrument? I played the sax for 2 years before playing flute which made tonguing ...

braces

My friend who plays flute just recently got her braces on and is having problems reajusting her embouture (spelling?). She can''t play higher than D2 which is a problem because in sections we have a choramatic scale test in a week. Are there any tips or exercises that could help her regain her corre...
