Two Problems I need opinions on, please

Hey everyone. I have been trying out a new Pearl Quantz 765 with a Forza headjoint. I have a couple of issues that I'd like your help/opinion/advise on, please. 1. The headjoint has a gold-plated lipplate, which I thought is usually to help with people who have a silver allergy. For the first time f...

Taffenal-Gaubert "The Big Book"

Do any of you have and/or used this book before? Can you tell me a little about it, i.e., what's in it, what level(s), opinion, etc. I am thinking of purchasing, but it is a bit pricey and I want to know what I'm getting.

Thanks!

Which one do you LIKE the best? Which one feels best in your hands, embouchure, etc? If you are simply stuck because you like both of them equally well, then keep playing them over and over, vary the music you are trying to see how well each flute does on different things. Does one jump octaves easi...

Dr. Andra Bohnet at the University of South ALabama, the flute professor there, plays irish music on a boehm flute, and she is VERY good. I don't know if she offers lessons on-line or what, but you could at least contact her.

Good luck.

Yep, that's the one I was looking at online and wondered about. Is it somewhere between a soprano flute & a piccolo?

Treble G Flute

Does anyone have knowledge of this type of flute? Can you tell me about it? I'd never heard of it before.

Thanks!

That's not the one I saw, but that is really neat looking. Why was it "weird"? What did it do or not do that you didn't like?

Yes, that is what I saw! The headjoint that I saw had even bigger cuts on it than this one.

az1983 -- I'm testing the Pearl 765 Coda right now, and I'm right there with you on the headjoint. I like it, but boy is it making me work for it! The only thing I don't like about this model is that it didn't come with the split E, which I have discovered is vital in order for me to get out a decen...

Phineas, I talked to Brenda today; as a result, my Orpheus goes out in the mail to her tomorrow! I would've gotten it off today but ran out of time .... Thanks so much for the info! She thinks, after listening to my description of the problems, that it is pretty much like what you had wrong with you...

No, I've seen the engraving before. The ones I saw had cuts on top of the lipplate right on both sides of the opening. Almost looked like "wings" on the side, like the hole was flying .... wow, didn't know I could be poetic! It looks neat, but I wondered if there was a reason for that cutting,...
