Re: marcel moyse gammes et arpeges
The exercise table with all of the numbers? I think you simply do the exercises in the order that the numbers are given -- I usually do 3-4 per day. Does that help?

Re: Amadeus AF-900 (Haynes)
 I hate it when the blasted egos get in the way of learning. If someone thinks they are better than all of the teachers, then they deserve what they get --nothing. It's such a shame, really, because one can learn something from just about any other player if they are willing to keep their mind...

Flute playing and TMJ Problems
I attended a flute workshop this weekend with several of my colleagues from the college I attend. At lunch yesterday we got into a conversation about TMJ troubles, and discovered that all four of us have/had TMJ! I had TMJ surgery to correct it 25 years ago, and the other three young ladies currentl...

Re: When will the "light come on" with my embouchure?
Diedre, the embouchure is such a personal part of your playing and nobody can tell you how yours should work. You have to keep experimenting and trying and persevering .... it can be very frustrating for a long time and then all of a sudden it comes together! When I started school last fall my instr...

I bought a new magnet for my 'fridge -- it says:
"Old doesn't seem so Old now that I'm Old!"
It has pride of place now!

Re: Sankyo cf201-muramatsu EX, which one?
I don't think it's a matter of you not experiencing what Sankyo lovers experience -- you got the flute that was the right match for you, and it was not the Sankyo. I've played a friend's Muramatsu and I thought it was nice, but it didn't thrill me like my Sankyo does. Guess you just have to find the...

Re: Repair Recommendations Needed
Congratulations on your new Sankyo!!! Welcome to the "I Love My Sankyo" club! I don't know how much they charge for a repad, but Miles Ahead Music is where I bought my Sankyo, which is from the early 1980's. They overhauled the flute and put in the Schmidt pads, and did a great job, so I wouldn't he...

Hello from almost-the-complete-opposite-side-of-the-world! So neat that we can talk to musicians everywhere now through the internet.
What types of flute do you play there? The Lonely Shepherd Boy sounded very woody -- beautiful and haunting. Thanks for sharing.

Re: intervals.... a challenge for me.... maybe you can help.
I'm sorry, I am one of the ones who read your post and didn't respond. I was kinda waiting for one of the others who has more experience than I do .... I agree with Pied Piper -- concentrate on your embouchure. I have a couple of particular interval jumps that I consistently mess up, and it is becau...

Re: haynes flute questions
It's eye-opening how reputation can make or break something. Look at the Gemeinhardts -- you can't give them away now, it seems, even the piccolos. I spoke to a representative at a big flute company a couple of weeks ago and was told that they are considering dropping the Gemeinhardt piccolo line al...
