So, for $250 dollars, can get a semi-professional recording system. Then, if you plug in a good pair of speakers (I use $50 Bose speakers)...

About that example with the girl playing Chaminade: there are parents like that here too, they're not ALL Asian. I'm assuming her parents sit holding a metronome two feet away from her face for hours every night. Asian parents are just known for it more than other cultures. For example, if you searc...

If you go in as a sax player and the director doesn't want flute, you're giving yourself less of a chance of getting to play jazz flute than if you just argue with him/her every day until he/she breaks down. Anyways, learning the saxophone screws with your flute playing so it's a bad idea in the fir...

Official winner of the Most Illogical and Senseless Statement of the Year trophy goes to: If you are really interested in playing jazz flute, consider learning the sax. I played flute in the jazz band last year, I never got anything written out for me and it worked out fine. The only sheet music I g...

I've started playing in an orchestra and I don't feel that I get the right sound for it from a silver headjoint. I'm not about to invest in a new piccolo, but I wa...
