Why doesn't alto go to a low B?
Why doesn't alto go to a low B (low F#)? I know Kingma at least makes a low B foot for her alto. Does anyone know any other makers who make a low B foot for alto?

Heya folks. I'm currently a repair tech student and am in the middle of overhauling a piccolo. I couldn't find much information about this pickle-o on the webs, but it's an Armstrong Heritage 260 wood student piccolo. What is a/the veiling effect?
I just read a little about the Boehm's original open G# system. It is said that one of the advantages of this system is that it reduces the "veiling effect" produced by closed sections of the tube.
What does that mean?
