Re: Let's hear it!!

I play weekly, but I rarely record myself except to hear how I sound when I'm practicing. I don't post my practice stuff on YouTube. The one thing posted on YouTube where I'm playing flute is when I participated in the VirtualFluteChoir. For that, I was one of over an hundred flutists participating...

Re: Tips or Tricks for Hitting Low & High Notes

Well, I definitely have a harder time hitting low C with my b-foot flute than my c-foot flute. I have to really pay attention to how I align the footjoint on the b-foot flute to make sure I can easily get to the low C without hitting the B.

Re: good beginner flute methods

The Trevor Wye books are fantastic. When I picked the flute back up after a 30 year hiatus, that was and still is my go-to. There are also some great online sources, like Jen Cluff as well. How long have you been playing fiddle? I primarily play Celtic music, so I often play with fiddlers. What part...

Re: Tips or Tricks for Hitting Low & High Notes

Are you using an open hole flute? Personally, my fingers don't splay very well, so when I go to hit low C, it'll pull my right ring finger slightly off of the tone hole. Finger the note, then take a look at your finger position and see how they're sitting.

Re: Let's hear it!!

I must hear the story of how you ended up moderating a flute forum! I have pretty extensive experience with audio production. If you need some help, let me know. I can also point you at a series of articles I started writing for a guitar website on recording for the complete newbie, and I can give y...

Re: Let's hear it!!

I wish I could share. I just played "Dance of the Blessed Spirits" on my little treble in church today. But I'm not on youtube, and posting a Dropbox link apparently only sort of works. But I did enjoy your video, Chris. >'Kat You can upload a sound clip to http://instaud.io and post up the link!

Re: Let's hear it!!

Thanks Chris, The flute sounds good. How long have you been playing with those guys? :-) Hehe... Pretty much all of my life! Did you enjoy your recent cruise? The cruise is in 2019. That's one of three weeks I'm likely doing with the band in the pacific northwest next year. Have you got any music t...

Re: How many play flute and another instrument?

I'm also a harpist... I have a local friend who is a harpist. I never knew how versatile that instrument is! As for IAS (Instrument Acquisition Syndrome), I don't have to worry about that. Instead I have it's more deadly cousin, IMS (Instrument Making Syndrome). Between making piccolos, I've also m...

Let's hear it!!

Aloha, As we don't currently have a place for this, I figure we can host these threads in the General Hang-Out for the time being. Some of us are beginners, some of us are experts. Some of us just dabble, and some of us are professionals. What we all have in common is that we're musicians. Our goal ...

Re: Forum for sharing recordings?

MrHarryReems, Its a desirable idea It will take some time to find out though - we have to contact Admin (may have been asked already) Who will discuss with their IT - then add the forum space and test it Putting attachments on a forum is risky business - in case of hidden malware, but other phpBB f...
