The embouchoure needed for playing bottles is pretty much the same for flute. I think.

This one can probably only be done by brass players. What I do is blow into the hole like it was a mouthpiece for a brass instrument. You can actually play notes and songs, though I think the whole flute is one semitone above when you play like this.

Ah. I thought it was an embouchoure issue. I had this problem on the old, out of repair flute I used to play aswell. Since I pretty much taught myself, it's not surprising something like this would happen.

You're right, imitating "oo" works. Of course I'll need some more practice, but this really helps. Thanks.
