I played flute for roughly two years and excelled extremely fast. I reached an AMEB grade 7 in that time, and performed for my final examinations at high school with a near perfect score. However, at the end of last year I decided that instead of music I wanted to study writing at university; which I have been enjoying for the last 3 months. But I would really love to get back into the swing of playing flute again, and I really want to join a great youth orchestra here in Melbourne.
So my question is, does anyone know of any great ways to start playing again (without a teacher) to both quickly reach my previous point of skill, and to continue progressing? I'm sure I could pick it up pretty quickly, but seven months of not playing is a long time and I really feel that my dexterity and tone will take a while to develop again. So do you have any tips?
Thanks heaps, Jesse.
