Left Handed Flutes

Post by nwbandgeek »

I was wondering where to purchase a left handed flute. Yes I know right handed flutes are for left and right handed people, but my science teacher is wanting to know where he can purchase one due to them being different and he does not want to special order it. Do you know of anywhere I could find one??????? :?

AFAIK, no left-handed concert flutes are made by any manufacturer. Since playing the flute requires equal use of both the left and right hands, the player must be ambidextrous at least with respect to playing the flute.

Most keyless flutes such as simple bamboo flutes, recorders, tin whistles, etc. can be played either way, but there is no advantage for the player to switch the standard hand orientation.

For the same reasons, you won't find a left-handed piano...

You'll have to source for vintage ones. Nobody makes such things nowadays: no market, no go.

But they do exist, in case you were getting skeptical.

a mouse on a computer with my right hand, as well as cutting paper
