What is a/the veiling effect?

Postby ofstarstuff » Thu Feb 02, 2017 5:16 pm

I just read a little about the Boehm's original open G# system. It is said that one of the advantages of this system is that it reduces the "veiling effect" produced by closed sections of the tube.

What does that mean?

Thanks.
