Nomata Flute?

Post by FltnPicc_David » Fri Oct 13, 2006 9:52 pm

I haven't heard very much about this but seems like the person who designed them used to design flutes for Yamaha. He helped design the EC headjoint as well, according to the site but i haven't heard much word about these flutes..

I'm also interested in this flute. Does anyone know about this or heard of anyone playing it?

I saw it on Woodwind & Brasswinds. It seems like one of the Sonare/Azumi/Amadeus/diMedici/Lyric/etc flutes with the good [handmade] headjoint stuck on a body. I wonder how the crown would affect the sound even though it's just "goldplated".

Is there a difference between "handmade" and "hand crafted"?

The crown can make a difference, but goldplating on a crown will not. It's the weight of the crown, and it's fit inside the tube, as well as whether it's hollow or solid, material, etc. that matters. Just as with a gold plated lip, it won't make a difference, though a solid gold crown certainly may.

As for "handcrafted" vs. "handmade," there is no concrete definition used by makers, and they all use the terms differently. Some consider anything that involves any hand finishing to be handmade, while others hold that only a flute built entirely by hand can be called handmade.
