Treble G Flute

Post by MissyHPhoenix »

Does anyone have knowledge of this type of flute? Can you tell me about it? I'd never heard of it before.

Thanks!
Missy

There's a link to the maker. I tried one several months ago at a convention. It was actually quite neat! If I had the money, I wouldn't hesitate to buy one of their treble and concert flutes. I really like their grenaditte/composite instruments. They make a nice comprise for a wooden sound without the price IMO.

Yep, that's the one I was looking at online and wondered about. Is it somewhere between a soprano flute & a piccolo?

In the flute family you have:

Db Piccolo
C Piccolo
Eb Soprano Flute
Concert C Flute
G Alto Flute
F Alto Flute [Sometimes called Flute D'Amour I think]
C Bass Flute
Bb Bass Flute
Contrabass
Doublecontrabass
Hyperbass

The Treble flute in G [which is a new invention], now falls between the "C Piccolo" and the "Eb Soprano Flute."

*Instruments listed in Italics are usually considered vintage/archaic flutes, and instruments that are underlined are considered rare by today's standard*

The Flute D'Amour is usually in B-flat or A. I have not heard of an F Alto flute (unless you are talking about recorders).

The G treble flute has been used in Irish flute bands for decades, so I've heard.
