MSSU Flute Day!

Post by ncomposer » Thu Feb 22, 2018 10:09 am

Hello everyone,

If you are in the Joplin, Missouri area on Saturday (2/24), Missouri Southern State University will be hosting the MMSU Flute Day.

Guest artists include Dr. Karen Large (KSU), Dr. Shelley Martinson (SWOSU), Alyssa Andriotis (OCCC), and myself (flutist/composer). The event is hosted by MSSU's own Dr. Elizabeth Robinson will premiere my new work Death Whistle for solo piccolo.

This event is FREE and open to the public.

All activities will occur at the Missouri Southern State University Fine Arts Complex, in Corley Auditorium, Phinney Hall, Room 208, and Room 108.

You can learn more here: http://www.robinsonflute.com/fluteday.html

Hope to see y'all there!

I really wish you had posted this earlier. I told my boss Thurs morn that since I had nothing to do Sat, and since nobody else had volunteered, (and since he had also promised lunch :D !), I would work the Sat shift that our store needed filled.

Maybe next year you can let us know a couple of weeks before the event. I sure would've gone had I known about it sooner. Now I'm really bummed 'cause I'm missing what sounds like a fun day full of fluting.

(edit to add--I read more on MSSU's site, and saw that pre-registration ended on Thurs anyways. So it might've been moot to go, as space may be filled already. PLEASE!! If they repeat this event next year, please-please-please do let us know about it, only enough ahead of time that we can make arrangements to attend. Thank you!)

Hi!

No need to pre register that was for estimates. There's plenty of room even if you can only make part of the day!

So how'd the day go? Was it well-attended, I hope? Lots of fluting accomplished? Are there any papers handed out in the sessions that I might snag copies of? I'd esp be interested in what was said in the Strategies for Performance Anxiety and the Shopping for Your Forever Flute sessions.

Sure hope it's held again next year and I can go!
