If the price is right, the Buffet is a decent instrument. I use to own the International Open Hole model. I would still have it but it was stolen. I have tried the student models and they are ok. Not as good as some of their other wind instruments like their clarinets, but more then adequate to start or double with.

Hi, Mike
I did try and post a reply a week ago but it seems to have disappeared into cyber-oblivion. Don't know where you are in Yorkshire or whether or not you've been to the Woodwind Exchange on Manningham Lane, Bradford... but it'll have a very good range of new and used flutes to try out (I think... haven't been for a long time).
I've had a Buffet Crampon 228 for about 15 years and it's served me really well and is an excellent student flute (IMO), although I've just got a Trevor James Cantabile as a step-up flute and I have to say that the difference is very noticable... for me, anyway. I bought that one at Forsyth Brothers in Manchester, but they probably haven't got as much choice as the Woodwind Exchange.

Good luck with finding a flute

Hi and welcome

I started off with a Buffet flute, and it served me well until about grade 6 when I decided to upgrade.

My daughter wants to learn, and I've just bought her a buffet flute (secondhand), and it blows nicely - great little student flutes.

Let us know how you get on!!
