Post by OrangeGal4 »

Hey, I was just wondering what type of music people have been playing nad the level. The reason why is due to my vacation. I want to bring my flute along with me but, I need some knew songs to play. So, If you could write me telling me the level, that would be AWESOME!

Thanks agian,

I pretty much play at the upper levels... but when programming recitals, I don't look at levels. Some very delightful pieces are listed as levels 4 or 5.

I'm working up the following pieces (used the Florida Bandmasters Association website to get the levels... their system goes 1-7)

"Sonatina" by Eldin Burton - 7
"Sonata" by Prokofiev - 7

These aren't listed on the site:

"Sonnets" by Mower (for alto flute & piano) - would probably be a 6 or 7
"Histoire du Tango" by Piazzolla (for flute & classical guitar) - would definitely be a 7+

I am grade 7 in ARBSM levels in England, I have no idea what level this is in other exam boards. (Here 1 is lowest, 8 is highest)

I've been playing for over 20 years, so I'm pretty advanced. In high school, I competed at the All-State level, which is top in NY. I tend to like pieces by the French composers - Poulenc, Bozza, Honneger, Debussy. I also like Prokofiev (sp?), Hindemith, Bach.

Am currently slogging away at (wait, that sounds as if I'm having no fun!!) Bloch's Suite Modale, Bozza Image, and that pesky Liebermann concerto (awesome!!!!!!), to perform sometime this fall.
