JS Bach Suite in H Moll
I have an old book entitled "24 Flute Concert Studies from JS Bach's Works and Famous Flute Solos". On page 48 there is a Suite by JS Bach with the name Suite in H Moll.
The index in the front says that Bach's Suite in B Minor is in the book (doesn't give page numbers). Should I assume (again, I hate that word) that the H Moll is a misprint and that it is actually the B Minor? Or is the H Moll the original name ...... I'm confused.
Has anybody else run into this? Can somebody clarify for me? Thanks!

No, not a misprint. Usually, B minor is expressed as h-moll.
Moll = minor. B = h. B flat = B.

Re: JS Bach Suite in H Moll
It's a German thing. Historically in Germany if something was in 'B' it was considered to be 'Bb.' They designated 'h' as B minor. It's just a regional quirk. So, because JS Bach was German, he would have called it Sonata in h-moll.

I like using H rather than B (Iceland). I can spell my name with notes that way.
it's HAFD# (Hafdís) as the D# is Dís
