Re: Is this flute worth the price ?

I am a beginner and I have the opportunity to buy an] Haynes Amadeus AF500 in excellent condition for $ 275.00. Actually, the flute looks like new and plays perfectly. The seller says that it has been played just a few times. Is this flute (which I understand has been discontinued) worth the price ...

Re: Your recommendations for intermediate flutes $1500-$2800

I just have a close look at my Briolette flute this morning and I see the parts of it have stamped sterling silver and four numbers and of course Briolette. it's a very high quality flute and collectable. Any one know any thing about this flute, please help me. Also I want to sell it too. If you ar...

Re: Did anyone try to record his flute with a Samson CO1U?

Hye Phineas! I wanna ask, I'm thinking of buying Samson C03 Condenser Mic for my flute recording? Is it a good mic for flute recording? Or you have any better recommendation? The C03 is not much different than the C01. It works off a conventional microphone cable and you can change the pick up patt...

Re: DZW Grenadilla Flute

My principal has one from the 1870s I think and she plays it year in and year out. Leaves it on a flute peg at rehearsal which makes me shudder. And when I ask her about special care etc I just get the blank stare so I'm not sure she is putting any effort into it. My she sounds like a fun person......

Re: DZW Grenadilla Flute

So..... you wouldn't consider a wooden flute such as the DZW stable enough to play out? Or regularly ie school studies? For the price point, I would only play that instrument under certain conditions. I would not do any outdoor concerts with one. Once the wood gets messed up, you are out of luck in...

Re: DZW Grenadilla Flute

I personally have really liked the wooden head joints I've played (and flutes) and am thinking of them as a viable option as I search for the best solution *for me* at this point. If anyone has any experience with this instrument please do chime in.... I played on a Buffet International model with ...

Re: Miyazawa PB 102

Ok I'm a little confused by some things I've read. .....SNIP........ So which is it? Will the oval hole "traditional classic" of the Miyazawa MZ-9 offer more potential, pallet of colors etc? Or the more modern embouchure hole? Thanks Again, it does not matter. All that matters is what works best fo...

Re: Miyazawa PB 102

I can get a Pear 665 with Forza sterling head joint for 1000 dollars. My teacher does NOT like them however and says they don't hold adjustment well. I did professional performances weekly under harsh conditions and mine held up just fine. Now, the older models like the 501s were like that. Even st...

Re: New member!

I am still playing on a student instrument (Gemeinhardt 3sh), and dream of being able to somehow afford something that will allow more growth. My instrument kind of embarrasses me, but I am really and genuinely trying to become the best musician I can in spite of it. If what you have plays, then pl...

Re: Miyazawa PB 102

Phineas By worth I mean is there another flute that gets close to the PB 102 but cost less. There are several flutes that I could recommend for half of the money. But it is all a matter of preference. Also keep in mind that Miyazawa is a handmade/crafted flute. Flutes like the Pearl Quantz, Azumi, ...

Re: Miyazawa PB 102

Greetings All I'm trying out flutes (Miyazawa PB 102, Azumi AZ2, Di Zhao 600) and keep coming back to the PB 102. I know there are other flutes out there I haven't tried yet ie Muramatsu EX, higher end YFL, Pearl, Altus etc. But question is: is the Miyazawa PB-102 really worth 2900 dollars? Im not ...

Re: Happy New Year!

I just hope I can do a performance this year. I did not have a single student, nor did I do a performance in 2014. One of the downsides of living in Dallas Tx I guess.

Peace, joy, love, and prosperity to everyone in 2015!

Re: flute for wife

if i got one in the intermediate range what other options do i need to know about to make a decision? I have found that most Intermediate models from well known companies are comparable quality wise. What you choose and what features you want are a matter of preference. This is why it is important ...

Re: flute for wife

I would suggest you read here. http://www.fluteland.com/board/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=5859 Past that, you need to ask yourself a few questions. 1. Does she perform or just play at home. This will make somewhat of a difference. If she is a home player and she is content with playing on a "Student" level ...
