Most people just upgrade because of peer pressure, school requirements or just personal preference. All are vali...

Re: Is this anyone else??

Stop over thinking and stop being full of yourself. So you are not the first chair. Big deal. Just keep working hard and make sure you make the most out of the position you are in. After all, no matter how good you are, someone has to play the part you are playing now. Why not you? :D

Re: LIFE SUCKS

In some situations, it is not better to put the best people in the top positions. Especially if it is an exceptional player in a mediocre group. I would not take it personally. Just make sure you play your part as flawlessly as possible, be an example and show the kind of leader you can be. As long ...

Re: How many play flute and another instrument?

My main/best instruments are Flute/Picc and Guitar. I also play Saxophone, Bass and Piano. I also arrange/compose.

I am not as active professionally as I use to be, but still practice daily on my best instruments and piano.

Re: Pearl flutes vs Yamaha

I have played and have owned multiple models in both brands. The Pearl 795RBE is a higher level flute than a Yamaha 472. The 472 is a Solid Silver beginner flute. The 795 is more of an Intermediate/Pro level flute and has a better/smoother finger action. Both would be suitable as a first flute but y...

Re: Difference between opened and closed keys

For most players? Sound wise ......none Reach and key configuration may have a factor with hand position and covering the holes. This may affect dexterity.

In the end, it is all about what you play well. Flutes are made for the player, not the listener. Always remember that.

Re: Continuing flute?

You do not have to limit your playing experience to school. Seek out playing at a church, community band/orchestra, garage band/group, open mic/jam sessions, small performance groups, etc... as your school work and time permits. When I was in junior/senior highschool, that is what i did. Most of my ...
