Re: engraving a flute
I am really on the wrong side of the pond to advise you but I know that it can be done. Check out the one I purchased here in the US: http://biskey7.files.wordpress.com/2010/12/chrismckennahead_thumb.jpg?w=320&h=241 . You might ask at a couple of music stores. Sometimes they can find an artist that ...

Re: Sankyo headjoint problem solved!
There is a kind of prestige to playing open hole. It takes a lot time and in most cases instruction to get that right. Since I just double on flute I put plugs in. When I offered to do the same for my wife (also a doubler) she asked me why. So I just handed her my flute (we have matching flutes both...

One thing you can do to reduce exposure to nasty chemicals is to use ultrasonic trays. That doesn't help you with all your concerns but is a good start.

Ooh, I've always liked Charles Gounod's Funeral March of a Marionette and this is a nice adaptation performed exceptionally well. Thanks for the pointer.

Pictures would help. Usually no serial number means either it's really old or it's a throw-away. Sometimes the serial number can be really hard to see.
