Double Tounging! Help!
thank you so much. Your advice helps a lot. I'm sorry I haven't been able to apply. Busy with this solo. (Fantasie by Faure) I have to play it at 132 bpm and I've really only gotten it up to 105 bpm with an occasional 110 bpm. I really should have it up to 120 bpm to make the finals but I think I co...

braces
Yeah, I've had braces on for a while and You get used to it. Try playing around with your embochure. I'm afraid to get mine off becuz they make you realize what your embochure sounds like, always checking to see if it's airy or not. There's another posst about braces in the hang out place i think. L...

improving my breath support
I had the same problem. A flautist in the symphony told me to play an F scale, with the use of a metronome (spell check), and play it at FF and 60 bmp. It's really hard, but after you practice it, you see that it starts to improve your breath support greatly. Also fill up as quick as possible. And j...

Beginner Flutist Seeking The Right Flute
Oooo!! Geminhart, definetly. I just bought a flute from fluteworld and Itz AWWWESOME! I recommend checking them out. They price almost all of their flutes down to half-price or more. I'm in love with my geminhardt and all of my friends want the flute I purchased. I never have any trouble with it. Be...

Double Tounging! Help!
I''m so mad. I''ve been working on my double tounging for about a year now and it''s not doing what I want it to. I can only double tounge at about 100 bpm and it''s frustrating me. I do weekly ettudes focussing on my tounging and nothing seems to work. ughhhhh. I''ve tried tounging with different s...

hum... I don't know much about vibrato. I play with it but it just came to me. um, you might want to try singing with vibrato and hear what it sounds like. Vibrato comes. Also listen how professionals use their vibrato. It will come. Just really tune your ears into listening what you sound like. Itz...

fast rythm for a slow player! Help!
Practice it slow, slow, slow. And also do work with your tunging. I have the same prob. w/ a piece I have to work up for a competition. My teacher always says to practice it at your base, or the tempo you can already play it at, and play through it three times, perfect. but rest in between. Then mov...

AG950flute, Gosh, Your advice is great. It's
exactly how you told me, It fits in perfectly. Thank you sooo much. Yeah, I
think I am a bit too over-confident and arrogant. I'll try to work on that bit.

Bestler Flute
Hi, I'm Leanne and in 8th grade. My best friend had a bestler and most of the time it played fine. I just tired one out last week. They're not bad. Great beginner flute. Congrats on your daughter. It's great. If your daughter has the same strive in about two years, check out fluteworld.com. They are...

Braces!
Ughh, Braces, You learn to live with them. They're as bad as they seem. I love playing with my braces because it gives me a tighter embochure and when I get them off I'll have a great embochure. Once you find where your mouth feels commfortable, keep practicing it there. um.... I remember going thro...

high octaves troubles
I have a Geminehardt and have no problems with pitch on it. THe high notes seem to come out easier and more in tune on it. Although, I think most flutes have a hard time keeping a nice sound on a high e so, just keep your ears open and whatch your pitch. Nothing sounds worse than out of tune flutes....

Down about all-county
Ok, I'll try to keep a positive attitude, it's just, I 've come so far and then lost. I admitt that I didn't practice this year as hard as I did last year. Even though I got a higher score, I got a lower chair. I'm from Arkansas, most of the bands here aren't very good, but certain sections are awes...

Bored or Frustrated with your Band?
Yes! I can't stand it. Half of the band are good, all-county players, however, the other half are people who don't want to work. It's so frustrating. Then, you can't do anything about it. I think the best way to not get to upset is to find other things to do outside of a band. Orchestra with strings...
