Re: Pahud teaching in movies???

Re: AMEB (Australian) Flute Exam coming up! HELP ME!

I don't know if you'll be penalised. If you play the rest totally fine and just the F# not so good, at this level (2nd grade) - probably not. How is the tone exercise going? How are the F#'s going now? Well, for running out of air. Worst comes to worst, you might have to take another breath… but try...

Re: Breath Support

You're going to have to get over it and do long tones! :P That's the best way. :) Not only do they help with breathing but also with tone. If you find it boring, find a way to make it interesting, for example doing a long crescendo or diminuendo, or both on one note. Also putting the metronome on 60...

The only one I know of (that I own) is reunion blues. They do leather as well. They have padding inside the case which is good for travelling etc

Piccolos - solid or plated silver keys?

Hey guys, I'm looking into buying a piccolo. I wanted to get a Hammig with solid silver keys because I though that that way they wouldn't tarnish as easily and wouldn't wear away. But the guy at Hammig said apparently silver plated keys tarnish LESS. Does anyone know anything more about this? I assu...

Re: AMEB (Australian) Flute Exam coming up! HELP ME!

going on from what pied piper said, there's an exercise specifically for this in moyse's de la sonorite - he wrote exercises similar the one i'm about to explain for every single note on the flute (chromatically). you can borrow this from the con library (or photocopy it) if you want but t's basical...

Re: AMEB (Australian) Flute Exam coming up! HELP ME!

oh great! so you can rehearse lots and lots and really know exactly what's going on with the piano part and intonation will be natural. aural exams are the same for every instrument. so for second grade, you're looking at clapping a short rhythm they play for you, singing a short phrase they play fo...

Re: AMEB (Australian) Flute Exam coming up! HELP ME!

When is it? What grade are you doing? Hopefully you've already started preparing… and hopefully you have a teacher to guide you through all of this... Start rehearsals with your accompanist asap so that you are totally comfortable with playing with them and with intonation. Make sure you know the pi...

Re: Self Learning?

Sorry for stirring you about the bass guitar! I tried to sort of level it by saying that it was no less of an instrument but obviously that didn't work. I'm sure it is hard to learn as well. I'm the girl who loves the bassist in a rock band so I'm really not against them! I'm not actually AMEB train...

Re: Self Learning?

well… get a teacher!....it's not about throwing money at a problem, it's about getting guidance from someone who actually knows what they are doing and can help you learn everything properly and point out things you might not think of. there's more to music and learning and instrument then a lot of...

Re: Self Learning?

well… get a teacher! don't just play studies, you have to play scales before you can play anything else, even studies. you will struggle though and hit a lot of walls which is why you need a teacher. it's not about throwing money at a problem, it's about getting guidance from someone who actually kn...
