Re: Seven Sonatas by Handel

Re: Seven Sonatas by Handel

the pianist can still take dynamic markings and phrasing from the harpsichord recordings. they (and you) should be trying to do this anyway if you want to try and be stylistically accurate for interpretation.

Re: In school and having to change everything

Hey! It took me about 2 years to change my embouchure. It was generally a frustrating experience!! Even now it takes me a bare minimum of 30 minutes of long notes and harmonics etc before I feel like I can actually control my embouchure. And also some days my tone is just rubbish and embarrassing, b...

Re: wing or without wing?

You have to try them yourself. I have tried one a lot over the past few days actually (14k throughout, adler wings) and it's a beautiful head joint - but I don't know what a Lafin head joint with OUT the wings is like so I can't compare. After trying quite a few gold head joints over the last few ye...

Re: A few Mozart problems!

geez. that's massive! which orchestra? in general, with intervals, i work on them a lot as well. the way i work on them is (slowly of course) switching between the notes and focusing on pushing my ribs out (for diaphragm support) and opening my throat up as much as i can. this is the way i'm being t...

Re: flute slips out of place

this sometimes happens to me when performing and i find that putting some talcum powder on my chin helps. not heaps. i use a make up brush to apply it and you can't even see it, it just helps for me.

Re: Bach A Major Sonata - vide??

I see, thanks very much! But why is this varied section an option to cut? Was this section unfinished before, or maybe lost somehow?

Bach A Major Sonata - vide??

Hey everyone, I currently studying the JS Bach A major sonata and I'm really confused about a section towards the end of the 1st movement. In my edition (which is Henle Verlag) this section is in slightly smaller print, at the beginning of this section there is a sort of half [ bracket and it says "...

Re: Flute and dark sadness?

I also think that just from a composer's perspective you wouldn't turn to the flute for a darker work - simply because of what the flute is normally associated with (often brightness and lyricism but not so much darkness) and things like register (the flute is obviously quite high, even the lower re...
