Re: Ferree's E100 Flute Key Arm Bending Set?

Hi, Does anybody have instructions or a description of how to use this? I've seen it from time to time in the Ferree's catalog but I can't find anything about how to use it. Would you recommend it? --TcJ What exactly do you need to know? I designed that tool, Gary Ferree borrowed my set and Curtis ...

Re: Altus 807 vs Azumi Az3?

The 807 comes with the Classic "S" cut. The Z cut is basically the S but made more square in its geometry. While you can't get a Z cut on a 807 you can always get one later and "upgrade" your 807 with your choice of headjoint. The other big difference is the keywork Azumi vs Altus. The better Altus ...

Re: Traditional Irish Flute

I'm interested in purchasing a traditional Irish flute to use in my Celtic band. I'm currently looking at a Casey Burns folk flute in blackwood, but I'm really out of my element here. Couple that with the fact that I live on an island in the middle of the Pacific and can't really try anything out, ...

Re: Solid Silver Flutes

Okay, I wasn't sure about gold plating on a silver plated instrument. The guy who sold it to us made the mistake of falsely advertising it, he was okay with giving us our money back. Since then my parents and I found a Sonaré SF-5000. It has a solid silver headjoint, B-foot, split E mechanism and i...

Re: Message board down

Wow, today it's all working here! If something was done, it was really good, because it seems problems are gone :-) Don't know about that. I haven't been able to get in since Tuesday. I did this morning. It let me look at your post and as soon as I hit reply, it went down. So this is the first chan...

Re: Solid Silver Flutes

I recently put Gemeinhardt 3b flute with a gold-plated lip plate on layaway believing that the head was solid silver, but I'm starting to second guess myself and I think it's only silver plated. Would they put a gold lip plate on a silver plated flute? It's really nice. Please respond, I'm freaking...

Re: Pearl Elegant flute head joint tenon size??

I'm looking into buying a Guo grenaditte head joint, but I need to know the exact tenon size of the pearl elegante "forza" head joint so I can buy the correct one. Does anyone know the size? Thanks!! Flute bores are 19mm, pearl bodies are generally .40mm give or take a little for fitting. 19.8mm sh...

Re: SankyoCF401 Artist: It Came!

What are the pluses and minuses of NEL compared to the Split E option? Also: how can I check the serial number of the flute to determine its date of manufacture? The NEL partially fills in the duplicate G# tone hole partially eliminating the double vented note without adding any mechanism. The spli...

Re: SankyoCF401 Artist: It Came!

Well, I got it today via UPS. While the blurb from Woodwinds & Brasswinds had said Sankyo CF401 Artist, this one simply says Sankyo CF401 on the cardboard box as well as on the flute, same as the current model, with no reference to Artist. It came with the RT-1 headjoint as advertised, and a warran...

Re: Message board down

We should be migrating to a new server within the next 2-3 weeks. Hopefully that solves the issues. Today though, the log in page said " Board is temporarily unavailable" I hit the Login button and logged in normally Let's hope so. It was down all day for me yesterday until evening. Logging out and...

Re: Sankyo flutes and warranty work

Has anybody here had experience in the US with repairing a Sankyo flute under warranty? Does it go to Sankyo, or to the vendor where it was bought? I think you should contact directly Sankyo America in the person of Mr. Lawrence Lee. He is actually the distributor and also works with Sankyo mainten...

Re: Sankyo flutes and warranty work

Thanks for the reply. I'm considering buying a new but discontinued model (Sankyo CF401 Artist) at half the price of the current CF401 model from an online only vendor (Woodwind & Brasswind) with a 45-day return policy, but wonder about their ability, then, to service the flute if it fails. WWBW ha...

Re: Sankyo flutes and warranty work

Has anybody here had experience in the US with repairing a Sankyo flute under warranty? Does it go to Sankyo, or to the vendor where it was bought? Typically, warranty service is obtained through the dealer of purchase. They have to determine if it is truly a warranty issue or one of maintenance. I...
